Our Fabrics
Forelle is a modern day brand and a harsh reality of our times is climate change, where being responsible and mulling over the impact we are causing on the planet is not a choice but a necessity. A significant amount of research and deliberation further we chose to go ahead with plant based cellulosic fabrics despite of a plethora of luxe lesser sustainable choices available.
Majority of our garments have been manufactured in Cupro fabrics (Cupro Satin and Cupro Crepe).
Cupro is a “regenerated cellulose” fibre made from cotton waste.
It’s made using the tiny silky cotton fibres, known as linter, that stick out of the cottonseed and are too small to spin. The linter is dissolved into a cuprammonium solution, which is a mixture of copper and ammonium, dropped into caustic soda, then spun into fibre.

Cupro is a by-product of cotton. Cotton production requires a massive amount of water and pesticides when it’s not organic, and even organic cotton can come with its own sourcing issues. So using every bit of the cotton plant helps reduce waste.
Since Cupro is plant-based—unlike silk, which comes from silkworms—it is vegan and cruelty-free.
Unlike silk again, it is machine washable, which has a lower impact than the dry cleaning required for delicate silk garments.
Additionally, the process of producing cupro fabric takes place within a closed-loop system. This means that, whenever possible, the solvents used in manufacturing are captured, recycled, and reused instead of being released into rivers or waterways, thereby reducing pollution and conserving resources. The reuse of these chemicals also decreases the demand for virgin materials, making cupro a more sustainable option compared to many other fabrics.
